Influenza and COVID-19 Patient Notice

In an effort to decrease/eliminate the spread of the influenza and Coronavirus, we are asking that any patient experiencing a fever with a cough or shortness of breath, and has traveled outside of the US, or to Washington, California, New York, or came into contact with anyone who has tested positive for the Coronavirus, please let our staff know this prior to entering the medical office building. There are extra measures that our staff have in place to protect you, other patients and our healthcare workers. We do have several screening questions that the receptionists and nurses will be asking to everyone. We appreciate your cooperation with this process. We are working with the Elkhorn Valley Public Health Department as well as the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services to develop protocols for our patient’s safety and wellness.

Here are the six things we all can do to stay healthy:

  1. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% of alcohol.
  2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  3. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  4. Stay home and away from others when you are sick for the full duration of the illness
  5. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  6. Get the facts, make a plan.

“Here at Norfolk Medical Group, we take pride in helping and caring for our patients. During this time, we are asking our patients to limit the number of individuals you bring in for your appointment. We would greatly appreciate it if you would only bring one other person with you to your appointment(s).”

Gastroenterology

Comprehensive care for patients with a wide variety of digestive and liver related ailments

Gastroenterology is focused on the digestive system and its disorders. Digestive health is important to overall health and well being.

If you show signs of digestive related issues, you may be referred to a gastroenterologist. A gastroenterologist is specifically trained in the normal function and diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts and liver.

Unique training prepares gastroenterologists to provide high quality and comprehensive care for patients with a wide variety of digestive and liver related ailments. The goal is to provide more complete, accurate, and thorough care for patients with gastrointestinal conditions.

They plan an important role in more routine accurate colonoscopies, as well. This is one of the best ways to prevent colon cancer. Other common digestive health conditions treated include gallstones, liver disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and stomach ulcers among others.

Plus, gastroenterologists have specific training in endoscopy, which is the use of small cameras to see inside the intestinal tract. With strong attention to detail and a comprehensive knowledge of the gastrointestinal tract, they can provide high quality consultation and treatment services for a wide variety of digestive and liver functions.
