How a Gastroenterologist Can Help You:
Gastroenterology is the subspecialty of Internal Medicine concerned with disorders and conditions of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, also called the digestive tract. Gastroenterologists are concerned with the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines(colon), pancreas, biliary, and liver disease.
Gastroenterologists must complete seven years of medical school and post graduate training and attain Board Certification in Internal Medicine. A fellowship program of an additional two to three years of studying conditions specific to the GI tract follow.
